Notes

The Notes system lets every campaign member, GMs and players, jot down session recaps, lore snippets, keep inventories, and anything else worth remembering. Notes can be personal (visible to all, but only you can edit) or shared (visible to all and editable by everyone).

Tip: Use shared notes to maintain a party inventory, track important NPCs, or build a collaborative session log that everyone can contribute to.

Personal vs. Shared Notes

Personal Notes
  • • Visible to all, but only you can edit.
  • • Perfect for character journals, session observations, or personal gameplay notes.
  • • Found in the "My Notes" tab.
Shared Notes
  • • Visible to all campaign members.
  • Editable by everyone, great for collaborative docs.
  • • Found in the "Shared Notes" tab.

If you create a shared note, it will appear in both the Shared Notes tab and your My Notes tab so you can easily find your own contributions.

Creating a Note

All members

Unlike quests and maps, any campaign member (GM or player) can create notes. Click "New Note" and fill in:

  • Title : optional heading for the note.
  • Content (required): the body of the note. Write as much or as little as you like.
  • Tags : optional keywords to organise and filter notes (e.g. "session-3", "lore", "inventory").
  • Shared : toggle this on to make the note editable by all campaign members.

Editing & Deleting Notes

Note editing works inline: no separate dialog or page needed.

  • Your own notes: you can always edit or delete notes you created, whether they're personal or shared.
  • Shared notes by others: any campaign member can edit shared notes, making them ideal for collaborative documents like party inventory or session logs.
  • Delete: you can only delete notes that you created. Deleting is permanent.

Searching & Filtering

Find notes quickly using several tools:

  • Tabs : switch between "My Notes" (your notes only) and "Shared Notes" (all campaign-shared notes).
  • Search : text search across titles and content.
  • Tag filter : dropdown to show only notes with a specific tag.
  • Author filter : filter shared notes by who wrote them.

Notes are paginated, up to 20 per page. Use the page controls at the bottom to navigate through longer lists.

Ideas for Using Notes

Keep Inventory

Create a shared note tagged "inventory" to track what the party has in their keep or base of operations.

Session Recaps

A player writes a shared recap after each session so the whole party stays up to date.

Character Journal

Use personal notes to write in-character diary entries or track your backstory progression.

NPC Directory

A shared note listing important NPCs, their locations, and what the party knows about them.

House Rules

The GM posts a shared note with homebrew rules the party has agreed on.

GM Prep

Personal notes for session prep: plot hooks, encounter plans, and things you want to keep organised.

Example Workflow

Here's how notes might be used during a campaign:

  1. 1The GM creates a shared note titled "Party Inventory" tagged "inventory" and lists the starting equipment.
  2. 2After session 1, a player creates a shared note titled "Session 1 Recap" with a summary of what happened, tagged "recap" and "session-1".
  3. 3Another player writes a personal note with their character's thoughts about the session. Other members can read it, but only the author can edit it.
  4. 4The party loots a dungeon. Any member opens the "Party Inventory" shared note and adds the new items directly.
  5. 5Before session 3, the GM creates a personal note with encounter plans and secret NPC motivations for their own prep.
  6. 6A player filters shared notes by the "recap" tag to re-read all session summaries before a big story session.
