Campaigns
Campaigns are the core of Mythical Atlas. Every quest, map, note, and rule lives inside a campaign, and every member of the campaign can see the same shared world.
There are no limits on how many campaigns you can be part of. Players can join as many campaigns as they like, and Game Masters can both create and join as many campaigns as they want. Switching between campaigns is instant: just pick one from the dropdown on your dashboard.
Pricing is simple: players are always free. Game Masters need a paid subscription to create campaigns. Check the pricing page for plan details, or see our Payment & Billing guide for billing, cancellation, and subscription management info. Once you're subscribed you can create unlimited campaigns at no extra cost.
Joining a Campaign
Any signed‑in user, free or paid, can join a campaign using an invite code provided by the Game Master.
- 1Click the "Join Campaign" button on your dashboard.
- 2Paste the invite code from your Game Master and confirm.
- 3Your membership starts as pending. The GM will approve you before you can access the campaign.
- 4Once approved, the campaign appears in your campaign selector and the full navigation bar unlocks.
Tip: You can enter an invite code during sign‑up so you're added to the campaign the moment your account is created.
Creating a Campaign
Campaign creation requires a paid subscription. Once subscribed, there's no cap on how many campaigns you can create: run as many games as you like. See the Payment & Billing guide for subscription details, free trial info, and how to manage your plan.
- 1Subscribe on the pricing page to upgrade your account.
- 2Click "Create Campaign" on your dashboard.
- 3Enter a campaign name (required) and an optional description.
- 4Your campaign is live: share the auto‑generated invite code with your players.
Switching Between Campaigns
If you're in more than one campaign, use the campaign selector on your dashboard to switch. Selecting a different campaign updates the navigation and all campaign‑scoped pages (quests, maps, notes, etc.) instantly.
Campaigns that are still pending approval are shown in the selector but can't be activated until the GM approves your membership.
Managing Members
As a Game Master, you have full control over who's in your campaign:
- •Approve or reject pending join requests from your dashboard.
- •Kick players who are no longer part of the game.
- •View the full roster including character names, usernames, roles, and join dates.
Players can see the member list but cannot approve, reject, or remove other members.
Permissions Overview
Every campaign member has a role that determines what they can see and do. Here's the general breakdown:
Game Master (GM)
- ✓Create, edit, and delete campaign‑wide content: updates, quests, rules, maps, creatures, merchants, and more.
- ✓Manage campaign members: approve, reject, and kick players.
- ✓Share the invite code and configure campaign settings.
- ✓Delete the campaign entirely (only when no active players remain).
- ✓Everything a player can do, plus full administrative control.
Player
- ✓View all shared campaign content: updates, quests, maps, rules, the shop, and more.
- ✓Create and manage personal notes.
- ✓Edit their own data (character name, personal entries).
- ✗Cannot create or delete campaign‑wide content like quests, rules, or updates.
Pending
New members start as pending until the GM approves them. Pending members cannot access any campaign content or select the campaign as active.
Example Workflow
Here's what a typical campaign setup looks like from start to finish:
- 1The GM subscribes and creates a new campaign called "The Lost Mines".
- 2The GM copies the invite code from the campaign overview and shares it with three friends.
- 3Each player signs in (or signs up with the invite code) and joins the campaign.
- 4The GM opens the dashboard, sees three pending members, and approves them all.
- 5Everyone selects "The Lost Mines" as their active campaign. The full navigation bar appears with Updates, Quests, Maps, and more.
- 6The GM posts a welcome update, creates the first quest, and uploads a world map. The adventure begins!
